Chapter Chapter 9 in Managing Joint Innovation, 2012, pp 209-229 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In October 1998, an innovative two-seater car hit the streets of Europe: its brand name was smart (written in lower case). It was the brainchild of entrepreneur Nicolas Hayek, the CEO of SMH and the man credited for the creation of the famous Swatch,1 an innovation that gave the Swiss watch industry a new chance in the low-price segment.
