Chapter Chapter 8 in The Proactive Leader, 2013, pp 108-114 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract It is clear by now that delaying decisions is caused by a complex interaction of a variety of variables. To a certain degree, it will almost be impossible for leaders to completely escape the tendency to procrastinate. It is a common fact that from time to time leaders will procrastinate. What is really important, however, is that we are able to coach our leaders in such ways that they can make decisions under the best circumstances possible. These should be circumstances that can help to reduce the tendency to delay decisions. To identify such circumstances we will make use of all the insights that we have gathered so far. Based on this knowledge we will define five principles that can help to battle leaders’ procrastination (see Table 12).
