Chapter 7 in The Future of Private Equity, 2012, pp 68-77 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract While the debate about whether private equity as a whole achieves the elusive goal of genuine ‘alpha’ — superior risk-adjusted returns over the long run — there is little doubt that there are individual firms that do. At the top of that list is a manager already mentioned by one of my interviewees, John Hess: namely, TA Associates.
