Abstract:
Abstract Management theorists and practitioners alike are always trying to fi nd the best ways for organizations to be effective, adaptable and, most importantly, successful. When introduced in the late 1970s, the 7-S framework was a watershed in thinking about organizational effectiveness. Previously, the focus of managers was on organizational structure – who does what, who reports to whom and the like. “Does strategy follow structure or the other way around?” was the question of the day. As organizations grew in size and complexity, however, the focus shifted to problems related to coordination.
