Balancing the Work/Home Interface: A European Perspective

Chapter 35 in From Stress to Wellbeing Volume 2, 2013, pp 212-228 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Families and employing organizations throughout the industrialized world are changing fundamentally and rapidly, both in terms of structure and in terms of expectations. However, work and family policies and practices within organizations and wider societies, and the values and assumptions which underpin them, are changing more slowly (Kanter 1989). The failure to reflect and build upon rapid social change poses threats to occupational health and has far reaching implications for human resources management (Cooper & Lewis 1994).
