Why Spirit at Work Now?
Judi Neal
Chapter 2 in Creating Enlightened Organizations, 2013, pp 13-22 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Chapter 1 provided definitions of key terms in the field of spirituality in the workplace. This chapter provides a historical context that lays the groundwork for explaining why the interest in spirit at work is emerging now. This chapter reviews some of the theories of evolution of consciousness, and then provides a history of management theory and how it has evolved to the present day. The major trends that have led to the current interest in spirituality in the workplace are discussed, and a few research statistics are provided.
