Introduction to Luigi Einaudi
Alberto Alesina
A chapter in Luigi Einaudi: selected Economic Essays, Volume 2, 2014, pp 16-18 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Luigi Einaudi was an extraordinary individual: economist, historian, moralist, editor of several academic journals, ‘public intellectual’ and regular contributor to the leading Italian newspapers, correspondent of The Economist, Senator, central bank Governor and then President of the Republic. Very few men (if anyone) have done so much for Italy and very few individuals anywhere in the world have accomplished so much in a single life.
