Suggestions for Future Research

Michael Taillard and Holly Giscoppa

Chapter Chapter 21 in Psychology and Modern Warfare, 2013, pp 223-224 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract More than any other Part in this book, behavioral modification is the least understood, yet is still highly effective in what little information is already available, supporting the indications that this holds the greatest potential for future development. The indications being supported by this fact are simply the missing information for which there is no established research. In each chapter of Part III, a wide array of issues related to the topic of the chapter is covered, each warranting more attention than can be offered in this book. There is still a wealth of information becoming available about culture, organizational behavior, and human psychological conditioning. Even the primary source of information about psychological disorders, the Diagnostic and Statistics Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), has yet again been significantly updated and is now in its fifth edition, while there are psychological disorders that are not yet likely to be discovered, which can prove useful. There are a large number of considerations when influencing the decisions of others directly and each of these are still largely in the pioneering stages of development. Human behavior is a very complex and dynamic concept, providing just as much opportunity for modification as it does for challenges in executing modification strategies.
