From Visions to Information Systems Projects
Cassandra Moraveck
Chapter Chapter Three in Unmasking Project Management, 2013, pp 33-80 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The previous chapter describes the forces of change, business strategy, and different types of business initiatives and how they can influence changes within the organization. When computer information systems need changes or new systems need to be implemented within an organization, those in the organization have a vision. Visions are the big pictures and are essential to changes. This chapter describes how visions need defining so that what develops from the vision is the project mission. In fact, the starting point of many information technology projects is the vision, the project mission, and from this point are the information systems work requests for changes using technology. In some situations, top-level management meetings are initiated for coordination of ideas for new information systems.
