Chapter Chapter Six in Unmasking Project Management, 2013, pp 129-167 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract No doubt, you as a project manager have encountered many different kinds of challenges at one time or another in your work environment. Project managers work within organizational systems, and within these organizations, there are projects that can be successful and those that fail or do not increase organizational performance. When things do go terribly wrong within organizations, it is not unusual for top-level executives to start pointing fingers in an attempt to identify the individual who is the problem (Jick & Peiperl, 2003). Many managers have their own theories as to why specific projects fail or have major problems and others can only guess as to what are the real problems.
