Abstract:
Abstract The CARIFORUM was the first group of ACP countries to complete negotiations for an EPA with the EU and the only group to accomplish this task. There are many reasons that explain this achievement, among the most important of which was the successful cooperation among the small developing countries of CARIFORUM. Central to the cooperation among CARIFORUM states in the negotiations was the operation of the CRNM, a model of cooperation among developing countries that warrant analysis by practitioners of trade policy and trade negotiations. The lessons learnt from the role and operation of the CRNM during the conduct of CARIFORUM’s negotiations for an EPA with the EU can be valuable to other developing countries.
