Chapter Chapter 1 in Risk and Return in Asian Emerging Markets, 2014, pp 1-11 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The Asian emerging markets1 covered in this book, namely, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Taiwan, are getting increasingly important in the new world order. In today’s financial world, it is important to understand the characteristics of emerging market economies as their significance is expected to increase with time. It is, of course, quite possible to expand or modify the list of Asian emerging markets included in this book, and hopefully, in the future, researchers will evaluate other emerging market countries and help to obtain a more complete picture. Our work is just an attempt to compile a set of selected Asian emerging markets under one title.
