Abstract:
Abstract Not long ago the phrase corporate governance did not mean much to anyone beyond a handful of academic scholars and perhaps some shareholders. However, corporate governance has now become a mainstream concern of corporate leaders, global investors, regulators, policymakers and legislators, practically all over the world. Interest in corporate governance was heightened by two unrelated events that occurred in quick succession around the end of the 20th century.
