Abstract: Abstract Akiko Ito is an architect and organic food chef by training, a leader of a nonprofit business by desire. Raised in Japan, she spent most of her formative educational years just outside of Tokyo. She left Japan for the first time at the age of 18 on a school trip to Europe while studying architecture. She left again at 20 to study English in Canada and later travelled to Central and South America to study Spanish. Once back in Japan, she moved to the small village of Miyoshi in Chiba Prefecture, where she lived in a collective farming commune to study organic farming. She left Japan for good at age 24, going to India, Nepal, and other Asian countries for a year before settling in New Zealand to launch a successful organic fast food company. Travelling to different cultures provided Ms. Ito with an incredible knowledge and insightful learning about herself and her role in different communities. Her leadership and work are based on the value of giving, transforming the way business works today. She created and now leads a nonprofit organization to make possible easy access to global giving, ensuring medium to large enterprises achieve corporate social responsibility objectives.
