Abstract:
Abstract OVER THE COURSE OF THE past 60 years the life expectancy of the world’s population has increased by an average of 20 years, but at a huge cost. Eighty per cent of aged individuals - those in the process of living that extra 20 years - suffer from chronic illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease, whose treatment accounts for up to 75% of total health care expenditure in many developed nations.
