Chapter 22 in The Digital Currency Challenge: Shaping Online Payment Systems through US Financial Regulations, 2014, pp 146-148 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Digital currency is fast proving its worth as a medium of exchange and a store of value. Non-bank digital currencies should legally exist in America and could serve a major role in assisting members of this large consumer market. Bitcoin delivers a simple-to-use, inexpensive, secure, globally accepted payment product to the millions of Americans presently shut out of the banking system. Continued global growth of the digital unit as a currency and payment system is anticipated.
