The Value of Respect

Joan Marques

Chapter 3 in Leadership and Mindful Behavior, 2014, pp 37-52 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Respect is a phenomenon we can approach from many angles. Merriam-Webster dictionary explains it as originating from the Latin word respectus, which literally means the act of looking back.1 Dictionary.com adds to this that respect pertains to “esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability: I have great respect for her judgment.”2
