Challenges and Limitations

Michael Taillard

Chapter Chapter 16 in Analytics and Modern Warfare, 2014, pp 171-172 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Each of the many operational analytics discussed contribute to refining decisions and improving every function within an organization. As each one is performed, one after the next, new information and ideas will be generated, and inferior options eliminated, gradually revealing the optimal path. Understanding the methods by which goals will best be achieved, though, does nothing to alter the limitations of an organization to perform. Even so, the ability to minimize harm in a no-win scenario, or be as effective as one’s resources will allow, will still be critical to the survival and success of the overall mission, and this is only possible once the necessary analytics have been performed.
