Knowledge-Driven Creative Destruction: Strategic Knowledge Arbitrage and Serendipity
Elias G. Carayannis
Chapter 5 in Entrepreneurial Profiles of Creative Destruction, 2014, pp 183-208 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Heracleitus stated that “everything flows” in life—that is, change is the only constant. Herodotus stated that “war is the father of everything” in life, in a sense anticipating Schumpeter’s work on creative destruction, and the nature and dynamics of the lifecycle of the firm that we discuss later on. We witness these phenomena daily in the context of sociotechnical change that gives birth to substantial challenges and opportunities for individuals, societies and companies.
