Democracy

Tillmann C. Lauk

Chapter 1 in The Triple Crisis of Western Capitalism, 2014, pp 1-41 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This book is about democracy. It follows that it is also about human rights, in particular the right to self-determination as developed during the Enlightenment in Europe between the 16th and 19th centuries. It is usually associated with names such as Charles Montesquieu, John Locke, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Immanuel Kant and Alexis de Tocqueville — to name only a few.1
