Abstract:
Abstract Euan Sutherland, Chief Executive of the Co-operative Group, resigned after a short but difficult ten months at the helm. His parting conclusion: the group was ‘ungovernable’.1 Sutherland’s resignation triggered an upheaval in the structure and composition of the group board. The directors met that evening in an emergency session to discuss a much needed review of the group’s governance structure.
