The Unions
B. J. McCormick
Chapter 3 in Industrial Relations in the Coal Industry, 1979, pp 61-75 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The problems of the efficient organisation of the coal industry, the central issue of the previous chapter, were left unresolved. They depended on an analysis of the unions. In this chapter we shall, therefore, look at the structure and behaviour of the unions and the effects of nationalisation upon them. But because nationalisation created a new union of managerial workers, particular attention will be paid to it and to the general development of white-collar unions.
