Chapter 9 in Paths of Development in Capitalist Agriculture, 1984, pp 106-149 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The mandate the Agrarian Commission received from the Frankfurt Party Congress was not very precise. It had to ‘lay proposals before the next Party Congress’ in relation to the agrarian question.* The social development of the last few decades had thrust agricultural conditions so much into the foreground that it became a matter of urgent necessity for Social Democracy to take up a position towards them. The task of the Agrarian Commission was to prepare for the adoption of a definite attitude by Social Democracy; there were open to it an immense variety of different paths towards the fulfilment of this task.
