Portugal’s Crawling Peg
Rüdiger Dornbusch
A chapter in Exchange Rate Rules, 1981, pp 243-251 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This paper discusses Portugal’s adoption of a crawling peg in September 1977. The experience with the new exchange rate regime has been too brief to draw a lot of lessons. The events leading to the adoption of the regime and the early period of implementation are of sufficient interest, however, to warrant an examination.
