Performance Appraisal

Michael M. Gruneberg and David J. Oborne

Chapter 9 in Industrial Productivity, 1982, pp 174-186 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Previous chapters have considered the ways in which an understanding of psychology can contribute to the more efficient use of human resources. An implicit assumption has been that changes in individual performance can be measured in a relatively simple and straightforward way. Unfortunately performance appraisal can be anything but simple, and in this chapter the problems of performance appraisal are considered.
