The Kibbutz as a Model for Developing Countries: on maintaining full economic equality in practice
David Morawetz
Chapter 9 in Work, Income and Inequality, 1983, pp 215-242 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The central question of this paper is: to what extent is the Israeli kibbutz experience relevant to other developing countries? Would it be possible to transplant the kibbutz to other environments, or are the conditions that enabled its establishment and continued existence in Israel too special? As a by-product of the discussion, some observations are offered on the problems of defining operationally and maintaining full economic equality in practice.
