Chapter 2 in European Direct Investment in the U.S.A. before World War I, 1982, pp 11-19 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In many of the examples of foreign direct investment used in this book, it has been impossible to give a quantitative value. Frequently there are either no figures available or where there are the source of the capital is not known. It is, however, possible to give a fairly accurate appraisal of the overall investment situation regarding the flow of capital from Europe to the U.S.A. between 1870 and 1914 and to emphasise the major part that the U.K. played in this transfer of capital.
