The USSR and The International Aluminium Market

Carmine Nappi

Chapter 6 in The Soviet Impact on Commodity Markets, 1984, pp 116-134 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This chapter examines the role played by the Soviet Union in the world market for aluminium (including alumina and bauxite). It analyses the structure of Soviet industry for this metal and attempts to explain recent changes in Soviet trade position in the light of the more global strategy brought into play with the 10th Five-Year-Plan (1976–1980).
