Life Space and Economic Space: Contradictions in Regional Development
John Friedmann
Chapter 8 in The Crises of the European Regions, 1983, pp 148-162 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Regional theory relies to a large extent on the core-periphery model and its related concepts of dependency, unequal development, and geographical transfer of value. Despite its simplifications, it is, in many respects, a convenient model: used with circumspection, it can lead to significant results, both for analysis and practice.
