Aspects of the Application and Development of the General Conditions for Trade in Goods (Finland—CMEA) from the Standpoint of Trade between Finland and the Soviet Union

Reino Erma

Chapter 8 in Finnish-Soviet Economic Relations, 1983, pp 86-89 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The high-level political and economic cooperation established between Finland and the CMEA countries, covering particularly scientific, technical and economic activities between Finland and the Soviet Union, has given impulse to collaboration also at lower levels in the hierarchy. It is true that the joint settlement of the juridical aspects of trade between experts of two countries is not to be compared with mutually satisfactory results achieved between countries in the political sphere or in trade agreements. But it is true, however, that in all parts of the world juridical obstacles are seen as a factor detrimental to trade whose elimination is sought by all possible means. Success on the political and economic levels has stimulated a desire to examine matters jointly also at the level of the individual enterprise with a view to removing juridical hindrances to the pursuit of trade.
