General Description of Industrial Structure in 1957

Raymond Hutchings

Chapter 2 in The Structural Origins of Soviet Industrial Expansion, 1984, pp 7-23 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In order to understand the setting in which structural influences could operate we first need to gain a brief overall acquaintance with the scope and multicompetence of the established centralized Soviet economic system as this existed before the 1957 reorganization. It is impossible to describe this completely in only a few pages, but many of the gaps will be filled in subsequent chapters, where it is more convenient to deal separately with the details of contractual or financial relationships.
