Introductory Remarks
Giannino Parravicini
A chapter in Strategic Planning in International Banking, 1986, pp 1-4 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract A few years ago international banks enjoyed accolades throughout the industrial and developing world; they had become the main channel through which capital was transferred from North to South. Today the private lending boom of the 1970s is blamed by many as the origin of the debt overhang that is choking economic growth in many developing countries and threatening the stability of the international financial system.
