Chapter 7 in National Management of the International Economy, 1988, pp 121-139 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In its normative sense, as a statement of a general principle, a goal towards which mankind should aim, the case for free trade -developed originally by Adam Smith and then much more fully by Ricardo at the beginning of the last century and J. S. Mill in the 1840s — has never been refuted.
