Abstract:
Abstract The four periods discussed in Chapter 3 can be characterised by the degree of technological isolation or self-reliance (the Great Leap and to a lesser extent, Cultural Revolution periods) or that of dependence on imports of foreign technology (the Soviet and post-Mao periods).
