Contrasts in Airline Structures — Africa and the Middle East
James J. Lynch
Chapter 5 in Airline Organization in the 1980s, 1984, pp 79-93 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The 1983 survey covered twenty-three airlines on the continent of Africa and in the Middle East, the 1963 survey covered only four. This indicates the rapid growth of airlines in this part of the world over two decades. The changes wrought during the past twenty years in the African and Middle East airline industry are a consequence of three major forces which to a lesser extent have affected airlines elsewhere: * Decolonization * The Oil Crisis of 1973 * Nationalism and terrorism as significant factors in airline operations.
