Management in Action

Ted Stephenson

Chapter 2 in Management: A Political Activity, 1985, pp 16-34 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In addition to the models discussed in the last chapter, there are two other views of organisations we must take into account. The first is the unitary view with its emphasis on integration and the second, the pluralist with its stress on conflict. Both are oversimplifications, for the reality is that organisations embody the two elements of co-operation and competition.
