How to group activities
Rosemary Stewart
Chapter 3 in The Reality of Organizations, 1985, pp 43-58 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Jobs in organizations cannot exist in isolation. They have to be related to each other. This is called ‘grouping’ or, an unappealing word, ‘departmentalization’. This chapter is about the different ways in which work can be grouped and the criteria that managers should use to help them decide which is the most appropriate for their circumstances
