Abstract: Abstract This chapter describes the method of selecting those firms whose experiences in setting up their first overseas production subsidiary constitute the data for this book. In addition, the chapter describes the industrial, ownership and size characteristics of the firms; and the size characteristics of the overseas production subsidiaries.
