Economies and Size
David Reisman
Chapter 4 in The Economics of Alfred Marshall, 1986, pp 71-95 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The previous chapter was concerned with supply over time. The next chapter but one is about market structures. The present chapter contains elements of both; for the topic of economies and size refers to the manner in which the average cost of supplying one unit of output changes over time — and to the implications of those changes for the future of competitive markets.
