Abstract: Abstract The empirical analysis begins with a presentation of some simple descriptive statistics which relate the three dependent variables to the two IMF categorical dummy variables, which are (1) presence or absence of an IMF stand-by arrangement; and (2) total number of IMF stand-by programs experienced.
