Chapter 6 in Rivalry in Retail Financial Services, 1988, pp 143-144 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Retail financial services is a fiercely competitive, dynamic, rapidly changing sector of the economy. For example, since we began writing this book, the Midland Bank’s profile has changed, following the decision by its Chairman, Sir Kit McMahon, to sell three of its subsidiaries in Scotland and Ireland to the National Australian Bank (Clydesdale in Scotland and the related Northern Banks in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland). See Figure 6.1.
