Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to review critical issues concerning Japanese relations with ASEAN countries. EC — Japan relations will be examined only briefly. As is obvious from Table 12.1 Japan — ASEAN relations are distinctively significant among the triangular relationships between Japan, the EC and ASEAN.
