Chapter 5 in Automation and World Competition, 1990, pp 160-165 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Two recent developments have significantly broadened the domain of international competition. The diffusion of microelectronics is rapidly increasing the range of technological choice. At the same time, several major new aspirants, particularly the largest Asian nations, are bidding for larger shares of international markets. In this book we have used three sectoral case-studies to analyze the potential competitive impact of these new forces.
