Introduction: Recent Developments in Industrial Organization

Alfredo Monte

A chapter in Recent Developments in the Theory of Industrial Organization, 1992, pp 1-15 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Industrial organization theory has made substantial progress in the past decade. New tools and new approaches have been developed, and the purpose of this volume is to review and present some of these developments. The material is organized into four sections: recent approaches to industrial organization; the behaviour of individual firms and the characteristics of industrial systems as a whole; new theories of the firm and market structure; and technical progress and market structure — some special issues.
