Monopoly Capitalism Revisited
Keith Cowling
Chapter 6 in Recent Developments in the Theory of Industrial Organization, 1992, pp 148-161 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This paper seeks to update and extend the analysis contained in Monopoly Capitalism, 1 by considering research done since its publication. I will also consider some of the criticisms of the book which have been made. I will proceed by first identifying the central themes of the book and then pick up the topics which appear to merit some reassessment. These include rivalry and collusion, efficient bargaining, savings and corporate control, equilibrium v. anti-equilibrium and, lastly, the internationalization of production.
