Financial Futures

A. D. P. Edwards

Chapter 11 in The Exporter’s & Importer’s Handbook on Foreign Currencies, 1990, pp 57-58 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Financial Futures were introduced into Britain from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in 1982 and the London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE) started trading in September of that year. Unlike the forward market where business is conducted by telephone or telex, financial futures are traded verbally in ‘pits’ on the floor of the exchange by brokers.
