A chapter in Essays on the Cold War, 1992, pp 1-14 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract These chapters developed out of analytical essays written in the shadow of the cold war. They do not pretend to be a general theory of war — if there is such a thing. Rather they represent attempts, spanning twenty-five years, to gain some insight into the puzzling and terrifying events that dominated our times.
