Abstract:
Abstract Opinions regarding the industrial prospects of the European Community (EC) have swung from one extreme to the other during the last decade. Much of the 1980s was marked by strong sentiments of pessimism. These views strike a peculiar note amidst the optimistic assessments put forward today.
