Abstract: Abstract Let me begin this final chapter by quoting a definition of change drawn from my Yorkshireman’s Dictionary of Business Terms: Change, chanj, v.t. to alter or make different: to pass from one state to another. V.i. to suffer change. — noun the act of changing. Change management: the process of creating confusion and disillusion amongst an organisation’s people: the latest money spinning venture of expensive consultants. See also: pain, anguish, opportunity, redundancy, common-sense, life. This book is about change in organisations, and as Macchiavelli pointed out, that is no easy task. But that does not mean it is a task we cannot perform. Part II will briefly describe a number of organisations that have succeeded. They are our beacons of light through the fog.
