Chapter 7 in Inward Investment, Business Finance and Regional Development, 1998, pp 116-133 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract A number of studies have considered the role of inward investment in the process of regional economic development (see Hill and Munday, 1994), but much less is known about the role of inward investment in urban areas. This chapter looks at the role of inward investment in the recent economic development of three UK cities — Plymouth, Bristol and Cardiff — by examining the characteristics of foreign investment in each area, its significance compared with domestic investment, and its role in meeting local economic needs.
